The Orchestra is currently a mixed level ensemble of varied levels of musicianship. The Orchestra students will learn expanded technique, develop independent music preparation skills, perform varied repertoire, exposing the students to several composers, styles, and levels of musical expression. There is a course fee per semester of enrollment for this class.
The Full Symphony Orchestra is a large, diverse, and voluntary musical ensemble that brings together four main families of instruments, strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion, to perform a wide range of music from classical masterworks to contemporary compositions. Students in a symphony orchestra learn advanced ensemble techniques, listening skills, and musical interpretation while collaborating in a highly coordinated setting. The experience promotes artistic growth, discipline, teamwork, and an understanding of how individual parts contribute to a larger musical vision.
